All members are invited to attend.

Discussion points will include:

  • Benefit of rearing your own queens
  • Method of rearing queens
  • Using swarm cells
  • Small numbers of queen cells (Miller Method)
  • Grafting larvae (Doolittle method)
  • Preparation of colony to raise queen cells
  • Setting up a colony to accept queen cells

The club has set up a queenrearing yard at Randall’s Farm, an Aspetuck Land Trust property  located in Easton, about 5 minutes away from the beeyard at Trout Brook Valley.

36 mating units have been established to accept queen cells on a 3-week basis.
